TIGER TALES WEEK - Padded Board Books

   

Tiger Tales has a large offering of padded board books this spring and the two pictured here are my favorites!

Each one includes a large flap (covers 2/3 of the page!) to lift with a full picture underneath the flap. The text rhymes. The focus of the first book is counting while the second book focuses on colors. The counting book includes a bonus counting activity at the end. The illustrations are really sweet and the format is clever. These were two of my very favorite books from the whole spring collection from Tiger Tales.

TIGER TALES WEEK - Board Books, Day 2

   

Two other great board book formats from the folks at Tiger Tales. In Roar and a similar book, Zoom, there's a circle cut out of each page in the same spot, and the circle gets smaller as the reader works through the book. Each page hits at the animal or other picture coming on the next page. The text rhymes and makes for a cute story.

In My Book of Opposites and a similar book, My Book of Counting, includes lovely pictures and minimal text. In some cases the pictures go beyond the text. Those pictures could be used by adults to expose the children to additional vocabulary. All four of these books would make great additions to a picture book library or gift ideas.

TIGER TALES WEEK - Board Books, Day 1

    

This is just a sample of the fabulous board books from the publisher, Tiger Tales, this spring. The first two, Baby Bright and Baby Shine have staggered pages - each page is a big larger - and there are foil pictures on each page. One picture on each page, simple color scheme. These are lovely and would make great gifts for a baby shower or first or second birthday. The graphics are really nice.

Things that Go has fantastic, large tabs for each page, perfect for small hands to turn the pages. Another book in that same format is My Busy Day. Large graphics make for crisp, clear pages. The theme is tighter in Things that Go than in My Busy Day.

Just look at those covers! Aren't they lovely?!
Bedtime in the Meadow - Sweet bedtime story. Pictures include foxes, spiders, bees and tadpoles.

A Bedtime Prayer - A series of prayers to get you through the day from bedtime to bedtime, thanking God for creation, food, friends, family and other blessings.

The Best Snowman Ever! - Molly mouse and her friends make a snowman. Cover and final page include sparkly, textured snowman.

Sweet Dreams, Little Bear - It's time for Little Bear to head home to bed, walking with a parent bear. Sweet, gentle story for bedtime.

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear - Set of nursery rhymes (some more familiar to me than others) set up colorful, pastel pages.

I Love You More - A big bear and a  little bear share their love, stating, "I love you more than" their favorite things.

All of these are sweet stories for bedtime or reading time. Padded covers over heavy board book. Each one would make a good gift or addition to your home library. Sweet Dreams Little Bear is probably my favorite of the set.

TIGER TALES WEEK - Activity Books

      

Thanks once again to the awesome folks at Tiger Tales Publishers for sharing the fall releases with me. I have been so impressed with this company from the beginning. 

These two treasures from Tiger Tales are activity board books.

Ten in the Bed - Classic song, cut board pages showing fewer animals as each page is turned. The pictures are of stuffed animals. When the animals fall off the bed, they say their animal sounds.

Noisy Farm - This is a touch, feel and sound book. There's brief information on each page about the animal, a large picture with a spot to touch. Push the spot and hear the animal sound. The button at the end has all the sounds. This was clever and different!

Barnyard Bingo - includes the book Dora's Eggs and a picture bingo game. The bingo game would be great for snow days at home or games at a pre-school. I could see using this for a fun activity with my kindergarten students, too.

Both of these would make great gifts for young readers! Because of the sound of the second one, it would work better as a car activity rather than a church activity.

TIGER TALES WEEK - First ABC and Lift and See Animals

   

Thanks once again to the awesome folks at Tiger Tales Publishers for sharing the fall releases with me. I have been so impressed with this company from the beginning. 

First ABC - This is a great board book. There are places for kids to trace the letters with their fingers. There are flaps for each letter - the picture inside and the picture outside are of things that start with that letter. The graphics and colors are lovely. This is a large, solid, well-constructed board book at a great price ($7.99).

Lift and See Animals - On the left hand page is a picture of an animal. On the right are three flaps of animal furn/skin/feathers to match to the animal on the left. This is a really cool idea and another really well-constructed board book. This is also a great introduction to animals for little readers!

Both of these books would be great additions to your home library if you have little ones - or great gifts for families with kids under 5. These would also make great activity/distraction items for a church activity bag.

TIGER TALES - Padded Board Books

   

We have another giveaway opportunity today! This time we are looking at the new padded board books from Tiger Tales.

First up, we have That's My Daddy! and Mommy! These are sweet books with colorful illustrations of a parent and young animal, celebrating things that parents do for their kids. Four out of 5 stars for both of these. I would buy these for gifts - they are visually appealing and would be great for cuddling and reading aloud.

      

It's Spring Time! celebrates the tasks and wonders of spring from planting and nesting to playing and cleaning. Textured pages give little fingers things to explore. Three out of 5 stars. Splish Splash Splosh is a cute counting book. Ten fluffy ducks are planning to explore a pool, but things don't go smoothly. This could very easily become a "read it again!" story. Four out of 5 stars.

   

The format for these two books is delightful! Each book is cleverly closed with "hands" that wrap from the back cover around to the front with a magnetic closure. There are colorful animal pictures on every page - hugging animals in Hug! and hiding animals in Peek-a-boo! Four out of 5 stars.

TIGER TALES - Board Books

     

It's spring and that means it is time for some new releases from the publisher, Tiger Tales. The company has so many great releases coming out this spring that they decided to send them out in batches. This time I have 6 new board books and a puzzle+book set to review. (I could only find pictures for two of the books, but all of them have these same beautiful colors.)

My First Touch and Feel Farm - Five pages of animal pictures with a touch and feel portion as well as words that show what the animal "says."

My First Touch and Feel Pets - Five more pages of animal pictures with a touch as feel portion (my favorite was the lizard - very cool) as well as words that show what the animal "says."

My First Lift and Learn - First Colors - Ten pages with large flaps. The page asks what color the picture is. Inside the flap are pictures of other items that are that color. The words for those items are shown on the back of the flap.

My First Lift and Learn - First Numbers - Ten pages with large flaps. Readers can trace the number with a finger while counting the objects on each page.

My First Book of Things to Learn - Large board book with 6 tabs. Each page focuses on a different skill - colors, animal sounds, shapes, baby animals, numbers and matching.

My First Book of Things to See - Large board book with 6 tabs. Each page focuses on a different setting and pictures (and words) of things that go in that setting - like starfish at the beach.

My First Puzzle Set - Paperback alphabet book in the same graphic style as these other books. Comes with 30-piece alphabet puzzle. Both come in a beautiful box that looks like the books in this series. The box closes with two small pieces of velcro. 

These are lovely books. Very colorful and visually appealing. If I were to walk by these in the book store, they would definitely catch my eye!

Now, I don't have any readers in my house - or at school - who are young enough to enjoy these, but I do know some folks who do have younger book lovers at their homes. So, I'm going to do a giveaway of these. No one has looked at these books but me - they are in pristine condition. I haven't even opened the puzzle - all the pieces are still in the bag. TIGER TALES: It's Holiday Time by Elizabeth Bennett

Beautiful board book with padded cover and embossed pages. Each page highlights a holiday activity. There's no reference to Santa so this works for families who don't do Santa. There is a Christmas tree and caroling, but no reference to a specific winter holiday. Frankly, this book put me in the mood for holiday movies and Christmas shopping! Lovely.

TIGER TALES: Counting Birds by Jing Jing Tsong

Beautiful board book for counting practice. A large number on each new page is embossed for tactile readers. Each bird has its own call included in the counting. The counting is disrupted by a fun surprise. Colorful pages, sweet illustrations. This book was a treat to look at!

TIGER TALES: Old MacDonald Had a Farm.... (board book)

Another board book by the folks at Tiger Tales. Cute illustrations for various children's songs like Old MacDonald, Skip to My Lou and Farmer in the Dell. Padded covers give this a little extra something nice for gift giving.

TIGER TALES: One Windy Day (board book) by Tammi Salzano

It's TIGER TALES season again at Bring on the Books. The publisher graciously provided review copies of their fall releases. This fall, there were a LOT of books, so you'll be reading about those for the next couple weeks of posts. I hope you find some you like - I usually find some I want to give for Christmas gifts!

One Windy Day is a board book for fall. The bulk of the words are likely on the sight words list for any kindergarten classroom - up, down, light, dark, etc. The pictures show a mail carrier chasing down mail on a windy day. Cute illustrations including coppery colored foil leaves on every page (and the padded covers). Beautiful book for little pre-readers with fall birthdays or for Halloween gifts.

TIGER TALES Week: Hey Diddle Diddle AND One Sunny Day

 

Two more padded-cover board books for little readers from Tiger Tales.


Hey Diddle Diddle is full of classic nursery rhymes. Plenty to read when a little one is ready to snuggle in for a book. Cute and colorful illustrations.  4 out of 5 stars.


One Sunny Day is a shape book with a gold foil sun on most pages. Another story with cute illustrations. Of the four padded-cover board books I received from Tiger Tales, this one is my favorite. I'm looking forward to sharing this one.  4 out of 5 stars.

TIGER TALES Week: Uh Oh, Oh No AND Do Touch Don't Touch

 

It's Tiger Tales week! This is the week when I share new releases sent to me by the publisher, Tiger Tales, to review. We'll start with two padded-cover board books for little readers.


In Uh-oh! Oh No! by Ann Hodgman, a chain reaction disaster starts when the baby drops his milk. Kids would probably get a kick out of this but I was distracted, feeling sorry for the poor dad in the story. This control-freak mom had a hard time enjoying this one, but I know other moms who would get a kick out of it.


I enjoyed Do Touch! Don't Touch more. Pictures illustrate safe things to touch like yarn and the kitty. The don't touch items include a hot stove, an outlet, a vase, and trash. I would have liked this one more if there were a few more "do touch" options. I would share these with a church nursery program or day care. I would also share Do Touch with friends who have new babies.

TIGER TALES: Truck Party by Tammi Salzano

Different types of trucks throw a surprise party for Little Truck. Cartoon illustrations of various types of trucks. Fun read along will appeal to little truck fans. I know my son would have loved this book back in his board book days.

TIGER TALES: A Is for Apple and 123 Count with Me

I am so excited about the design of the two board books we will look at today.


Want to buy a beautiful and educational book? Buy these! Each book is done in layers so little fingers can trace the letters or numbers.

There are also flaps to open on each page.

ABC goes through all 26 letters in this format. 

123 covers numbers 1 through 20 plus introduces a number line and some simple addition.

 

I give both of these books 5 out of 5 stars. They are very well done. 


Recommended for: children ages 6 and under.

TIGER TALES: Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls

It's that time of the year again - time to talk about the fall releases from the publisher Tiger Tales. You'll get to see one or two reviews a day for the next week and a half. If you are starting to think about the upcoming holiday season, you might find some treasures here.


The first book is Jingle Bells. This is a board book with song lyrics from the Christmas favorite. A family of mice enjoy a sleigh ride as the sun sets. Sparkly, textured pictures are cute.

Another board book with song lyrics, illustrated with a sweet family of mice enjoying holiday activities like decorating, caroling, hanging stockings, and baking treats. Pages are textured and sparkly.


3 out 5 stars. Both books are nice holiday treats for little readers and pre-readers.
