Sequel to Gambit: Stealth, which I reviewed in June.
ObiWan and Anakin have escaped to a remote village and are biding their time, pretending to be locals while looking for a chance to get back to the Separatists on Lanteeb. But their troubles have only begun. Their disguises fail, the village is in danger, and a droid army has arrived to take them into custody.
This was good, but a bit of a "downer" - not a happy story, but there aren't many happy stories in war. The stress of the mission cut into the "banter" between characters that I loved so much in the first book, but it was still good.
I especially enjoyed the "secondary" characters - Greti (the girl in the village who is strong in the Force, but too old to do anything about it), and Taria (the Jedi who has a history with ObiWan). I loved the description of Mace's power and Ahsoka's growing confidence. The ending was genuine, even if not as "happy" as I would have preferred.

I am a lover of books; I can't get enough of them. Come check out my recommendations for readers of all ages! I hope you find some new reading treasures for you and your family here. Three star books are good, four star books are great, five star books are outstanding. In general, if I didn't like it, I don't even blog about it. Recommendations are based on my personal opinions, and cautions are listed for the sake of sensitive and/or younger readers.

WEDNESDAY: Star Wars: Clone Wars Gambit: Siege
I can't believe I forgot this was coming out! I blogged about the first book in the line, Stealth, and then didn't write down in my notebook of coming books that this was due out in July. Now I am stalking the library waiting for my hold request to come through. I guarantee you that I will drop anything else I am reading to dive into this one.

FRIDAY: Clone Wars Gambit
Senator Bail Organa has heard rumor of Separatist interest in the planet Lanteeb. But why would they care about such a "nothing" corner of space? Obi-Wan and Anakin go undercover to see if the Seps are working on a bioweapon on the planet. And they stumble into more trouble than they imagined.
The front of this book has a great resource - a timeline of books in the Star Wars universe and where they fit with the 6 movies. This resource clued me in that there is a book between Wild Space and this one, but I haven't read it yet. There was at least one significant plot point referenced in the book that I didn't know anything about, but it didn't keep me from enjoying the book on its own. The author is the same as the one who wrote Wild Space, and she continues to do a great job with the relationships and bantor. This book includes great side stories with Ahsoka, Padme and other characters besides the main two Jedi. The ending does not wrap up the whole story, so I am counting down the days until Gambit: Siege releases on July 6.

FRIDAY: Clone Wars Wild Space
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Senator Bail Organa are on a quest to a mysterious planet rumored to be tied to the Sith. As they journey to "wild space," on the hunt, they will test one another, pushing buttons, fighting over who's in charge.... and grudgingly building a friendship.
I enjoyed this book. The author does a great job, in my opinion, of capturing the voice of the characters, the banter, the sarcasm, the subtleties of the relationships. I was glad I had her next Clone Wars book - Gambit - to pick up as soon as I finished the last page.
