I am a lover of books; I can't get enough of them. Come check out my recommendations for readers of all ages! I hope you find some new reading treasures for you and your family here. Three star books are good, four star books are great, five star books are outstanding. In general, if I didn't like it, I don't even blog about it. Recommendations are based on my personal opinions, and cautions are listed for the sake of sensitive and/or younger readers.

WEDNESDAY: Parallel Study Bible
This is not my usual sort of book to review, but I am really excited about this particular Bible. I don't need a new Bible - I have more than I could ever use to their fullest. I bought a Serendipity Bible back with my husband and I were in a small group. Since we aren't in a small group any more, I don't use it. I have two pocket-sized Bibles that I use quite a bit because they are wonderfully portable (and one of them is a pretty pink NT), but I miss the study notes and commentary of my larger, more cumbersome Bibles. We have a few in translations other than the NIV, but frankly, NIV is what I go back to time and time again. I would have to carry around two large Bibles to do what I want.
Not any more. This parallel Bible, while not small, does have the NIV and The Message side by side. I love it. I could totally see myself sitting down with all my other Bibles, and transferring all my highlights and notes into this one and then reading my favorite verses from The Message right alongside my NIV versions.
If you are looking for a Christmas gift for a loved one, or a new Bible for yourself, check out this option - the NIV/Message Study Bible.
