Maggie Gerber and her friends are master bargain shoppers. They call themselves the Good Buy Girls. When one of their own is accused of murder, the girls go from hunting for bargains to hunting for a killer.
Review - I loved this story! I really enjoyed the characters. They would be women I would hang out with. The back story of the main characters - widow, Maggie; new sheriff (and Maggie's old flame); and to a lesser extent the town shrew who pops up to make Maggie miserable - is doled out at a great pace. I figured out the killer without any trouble, but I so enjoyed the characters, I didn't care. I've already put two stars by the sequel (Deal to Die For, December 31) on my upcoming releases list. I can't wait for more in this series.
I was pleased to discover that "Josie Belle" is actually Jenn Mckinlay who also writes a library lovers series and a cupcake series under who own name as well as a decoupage series under the name Lucy Lawrence. If all her books have characters like these, I know I am going to enjoy them.
4 out of 5 stars
I am a lover of books; I can't get enough of them. Come check out my recommendations for readers of all ages! I hope you find some new reading treasures for you and your family here. Three star books are good, four star books are great, five star books are outstanding. In general, if I didn't like it, I don't even blog about it. Recommendations are based on my personal opinions, and cautions are listed for the sake of sensitive and/or younger readers.

Waiting on WEDNESDAY - Coming Soon for April 2010
These are some of the new arrivals I am looking for in April of 2010.
I love Andrew Clements and am excited to see him starting a new series. The Denise Swanson series is about a school psychologist and Wedding Belle is the latest in her series. Lucy Lawrence's series is a craft-based mystery series based on the craft of decoupage. And Fox Trot is one of my favorite comic series from the newspaper. I own many of the books and have reviewed some of them before.

FRIDAY: Stuck on Murder
Light on decoupage (the craft of choice in this cozy series), but solid on mystery.
Brenna Miller has made Morse Point her home after fleeing her past in Boston. She is hoping that the quiet small town is just what she needs to find her equilibrium again. Instead, she finds a body, and her landlord is the prime suspect. Brenna is certain of Nate's innocence and insists on asking her own questions to get to the truth.
Great characters and a great set up for a series. The next title, Cut to the Corpse, comes out in April of 2010.
