MYSTERY for ADULTS: A Killer Read by Erika Chase

Lizzie Turner, a school reading specialist, is part of a new book club - a mystery-focused book club. But the night of their meeting, a stranger enters the home where the group is meeting and later ends up dead, parked out in front of the house. As prime suspects, Lizzie and her group are motivated to find the real killer before one of their own is arrested.

Review - This is a good cozy mystery. Nothing in this first book of the series (book 2, Read and Buried releases on December 4th) really set it apart for me. It's a solid story with plenty of threads to follow in the mystery. The parts of the book that focused on Lizzie's job were interesting. Those sections felt like the Denise Swanson school psychologist series. The love interest is good - as is common in these sorts of books, it's someone in law enforcement. There's still plenty of character development to come as the series evolves, which is great. Everything wasn't divulged in this first volume.

If you like cozies, check out this new series. I know I will be reading book two this winter!

3 out of 5 stars
