TIGER TALES Week: Mole's Babies AND The Bump
Two pregnancy/new baby themed books from Tiger Tales
The Bump is the story of a mom anticipating the arrival of her baby. I was leery at first, when I saw the title, but it's very appropriate for little readers and listeners and I was pleasantly surprised. It's geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers, but could also go to new moms as something to share with their little ones as they grow. Could also go to moms who are having a second child to open discussion with the first one if he/she is old enough to understand the book. I could see giving this book as a shower gift. The focus on the mom in the story allows this to possibly be used by single moms as well as married ones. 4 out of 5 stars
Mole's Babies gives dads a chance to be in the spotlight. Mole is about to be a dad for the first time and he's a little nervous. He watches other animals for ideas on how to care for his babies, but he's no good at hopping like bunnies or flapping like birds. Soon, he discovers what his babies need most of all. Sweet story staring an animal not often seen in picture books. This book would make a good baby shower gift for new dads. 4 out of 5 stars.
