The story writer is a bit disorganized and scattered, so the writer and the king have to go in search of the lost story. They wander into familiar stories, the king angles for more story time (and more flattering descriptions), and he yells a lot about the reader trying to read the story that isn't done yet. Finally, the story is completed - to everyone's relief.
Fun, quirky story that my son and I enjoyed reading together. The kings ranting and raving make it fun to read out loud. Could be a good classroom read aloud for units on writing fairy tales or just writing in general.
The attention to detail in the presentation of this book is fabulous. Small illustrations in inside covers of the book tie into the story. The cover is textured - both the paper cover and the actual hardcover. Beautifully done. Great price for a picture book.
