This week is Children's Book week. The Children's Book Council has a list of their finalists for The Children's Choice Book Awards here. They will give out the awards on May 12.
In honor of Children's Book week, leave a comment about your favorite children's books. What did you read as a kid? What do your kids like to read?
My favorites as a kid were mysteries - Bobbsey Twins, Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew. I also remember loving a book called P.S. I Love You but I don't remember the author. I read a lot of Lois Duncan books, too. And two of my all time favorites were/are The Phantom Tollbooth and The Westing Game.
My son loves all things Star Wars and Transformers right now. We have also been enjoying several series - Jack Stalwart, Jigsaw Jones, Stink Moody, and Roscoe Riley.
I'd love to hear what children's books you love. Enjoy Children's Book Week!
I read all of the Nancy Drew, Babysitters Club, and Boxcar Children books . . . I remember liking this girly easy-reader series about figure skating, too, but I have no idea who wrote them or what they were called. I just remember thinking what those girls did was so cool :)
ReplyDeleteProbably the best children's picture book that I know of is "The Stinky Cheese Man." I still read that and crack up every time!!!!
CHILDREN'S BOOKS ARE THE BEST.
My favorites when I was little were Blueberries for Sal, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, Sammy the Seal, and I loved reading The Boxcar Children series. I love anything by David Weisner, Chris Van Allsburg and Mo Willams. There's a wonderful children's bookstore in Cincinnati called Blue Manatee that would be worth a trip for you.
ReplyDeleteThe books I remember the most as a kid were the Encyclopedia Brown series and Hardy Boys books. I was also a fan of The Westing Game.
