TUESDAY: Star Wars the Clone Wars Season One Episode Guide

I picked this up as an Easter gift for my Star Wars-loving son, but I was actually the first person in the house to read it. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this book.

Each episode gets 6 or so pages of full-color coverage. It includes character information, weapon and ship information, still shots from the episode, and tons of background information on the episode - voicing, name choices, species choices, rationales for decisions made, etc. The detail is exceptional.

If you have a Clone Wars fan in your house, run to the store for this one. I know we are keeping our fingers crossed that they will do a book of this quality again for the second season of the show.

FRIDAY: Clone Wars Gambit

Senator Bail Organa has heard rumor of Separatist interest in the planet Lanteeb. But why would they care about such a "nothing" corner of space? Obi-Wan and Anakin go undercover to see if the Seps are working on a bioweapon on the planet. And they stumble into more trouble than they imagined.

The front of this book has a great resource - a timeline of books in the Star Wars universe and where they fit with the 6 movies. This resource clued me in that there is a book between Wild Space and this one, but I haven't read it yet. There was at least one significant plot point referenced in the book that I didn't know anything about, but it didn't keep me from enjoying the book on its own. The author is the same as the one who wrote Wild Space, and she continues to do a great job with the relationships and bantor. This book includes great side stories with Ahsoka, Padme and other characters besides the main two Jedi. The ending does not wrap up the whole story, so I am counting down the days until Gambit: Siege releases on July 6.

FRIDAY: Clone Wars Wild Space

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Senator Bail Organa are on a quest to a mysterious planet rumored to be tied to the Sith. As they journey to "wild space," on the hunt, they will test one another, pushing buttons, fighting over who's in charge.... and grudgingly building a friendship.

I enjoyed this book. The author does a great job, in my opinion, of capturing the voice of the characters, the banter, the sarcasm, the subtleties of the relationships. I was glad I had her next Clone Wars book - Gambit - to pick up as soon as I finished the last page.
